So you’re aware of the Shipping Container Home trend, but are still not convinced of living inside a shipping container because of its rough, unhomelike exterior. This amazing EcoHome will make you one hundred per cent convinced of this new, eco-friendly housing trend faster than you can say, “yes to SCH!”
Entry to this gorgeous, double-storey house is through the large glass door in the east side of the house. Walk up to the front deck and step inside to the entry hall, designed to keep the rest of the house private. Move forwards into the house and you’ll find the 4m x 3.4m kitchen to your left, complete with all the needed appliances, fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, sink, and it even has space to fit a bar counter with a couple of stools or a large table for six in the centre.
To your right is the incredible 4.9m x 3.4m living room, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors for an amazing view of the front deck, which extends to the side of the home. This living room is big enough to fit two large sofas, a coffee table, and even a media centre to kick back and watch sports games.
Retrace your steps back to the middle, between the kitchen and living room and now head further into the corridor. Turn to your left and open the first wood door. This is the 3.4m x 2.4m powder room/laundry room. This space has enough room to fit a private toilet and sink, along with a washer and dryer, and even leaves space for some hanging racks.
The next door down to the left in the corridor is the downstairs bathroom of 3.4m x 2.4m, easily fitting a toilet, sink and large shower. This bathroom may become useful for guest use, as it has a bedroom right in front of it where your guests will stay comfortably without struggling with privacy issues.
This bedroom is 4.8m x 3.4m, spacious enough to accommodate a large bed with nightstands and a medium dresser. With a glass window overlooking the rear deck, your guests may well be the envy of the rest of your family members.
Step out of the guest bedroom and as you turn to your left, climb the modern, glass staircase that leads you to the second floor of the house.
You are once again, greeted by a wide corridor with hardwood flooring. At the end of it, to your left is a 4.9m x 2.4m lounge room, with a window overlooking the downstairs deck.
In the opposite side of the lounge room is the door to one of the two upstairs bathrooms. Swing it open to enter the 2.4m x 2.7m bathroom, with toilet, sink and large shower. It also has a great view to the downstairs rear deck.
Exit the bathroom and turn to the door on your left. This is a 4.8m by 3.4m bedroom, perfect for your son or daughter to have, with enough space to fit one large bed or two twin beds. It also has a glass window on the side and three smaller windows right below the ceiling to create a wind gust in the summer heat.
Go back to the receiving corridor, and walk a few steps to the front. Turn to the left and swing the wooden door open. Now, step inside the second upstairs bedroom of 4.8m x 3.4m. This room is designed to fit a one large bed or two twin beds, as well. Here you also have a window overlooking the front deck downstairs and three smaller windows below the ceiling. This makes for a well-ventilated bedroom.
Moving on to the rest of the rooms, go through the door you entered and across the lounge room. Swing open the door in front of you and peer inside the gorgeous 4.8m x 3.4m Master Bedroom, with its own private 3.4m x 2.4m deck with modern glass railings. If you bend over these railing you will overlook the downstairs deck. However, feel free to leave open the glass doors connect the Mater Bedroom to this amazing deck, as you are in the second floor of the house, and can completely enjoy the benefits of its privacy. Across from the doors to the deck is a walk-in dressing room and entrance to the Master Bedroom bathroom of 3.4m x 2.4m, with toilet, double sink, and tub.
Sharing a wall with this bathroom is the last 4.8m x 3.4m bedroom of the house. This one shares bathroom with the other two in the upstairs floor, but has its own large glass window overlooking the rear deck, as well.
The SCH 20 has everything you and your family need to live comfortably within a shipping container home that, while it’s still an EcoHome with all that it entitles, it has a clean, contemporary design with cream-coloured aluminium panels that allow it to look and feel more homey.
